Vacuum Belt

The vacuum belt is an essential part for most vacuums. Usually, only upright vacuums will require a belt. If you have a broken or worn belt, your vacuum will not function properly. If it's completely broken your vacuum won't clean at all.

Upright vacuums have a bar with brushes that make contact with the surface being cleaned. This bar needs to rotate in order to dislodge dirt and debris. This is where the belt comes into play. It is attached to a motor on one end and the brushes on the other. As the motor turns the belt will move which causes the bar of brushes to rotate.

The belt usually lasts between six months to a year, depending on how often the vacuum is used. It's a good idea to have a couple of spare belts laying around in case it breaks or wears out. When you replace your belt, you need to make certain that you buy the correct size for your vacuum. Sometimes the size will be marked on the belt itself, if not, you can check the manual that came with your vacuum.

Dirt Devil Style 12 Vacuum Belt - These belts have lasted longer than the belts that came with the vacuum. I wasn't able to find them at the store so it is great to have a bunch on hand and free shipping too!

Dirt Devil Style 10 Vacuum Belt - It's a vaccuum belt, either it works or it doesn't...These did. Therefore, I am satisfied. Thankfully, because you can't buy this style in any stores around me.

Eureka 61120D EXT-U Belt, 2 Belts Per Pack - I noticed my Eureka vacuum stopped picking up pieces of thread or lint from the carpet, even tho it seemed to be vacuuming fine otherwise. The belt looked allright, but once I replaced it there was a big improvement. Belts are inexpensive so I plan to replace it yearly. If you do a lot of vacuuming, you may need to replace it every six months.
